Board Certified Vascular Surgeon
Dr. Stein grew up in New York City and attended the Bronx High School of Science. He graduated from M.I.T. where he majored in physics and then attended Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis where he received his M.D. degree. He completed his residency in General Surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City and was awarded the Arthur H. Aufses, Sr. Prize for the outstanding graduating Chief Resident in Surgery. After residency, he completed fellowships in Surgical Critical Care and Vascular Surgery at Mount Sinai and achieved board certification in General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, and Vascular Surgery. While a member of the faculty at Mount Sinai Medical Center Dr. Stein was awarded the Julius H. Jacobson, II, M.D. Outstanding Mentor Award for teaching the vascular surgery fellows. He has published numerous peer reviewed papers and was one of the first surgeons to perform minimally invasive vein surgery in the New York area.

Dr. Stein is a Board Certified Vascular and General Surgeon with over 25 years of experience treating varicose veins, spider veins, leg edema and swelling, and chronic venous disease as well as other vascular conditions. He was one of the first surgeons in the New York area to perform minimally invasive varicose vein procedures. As a faculty member of Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical School he taught these new techniques to residents training to be general and vascular surgeons.
Board certification in Vascular Surgery requires years of study and practice in all aspects of vascular disease. Specialists with board certification have completed rigorous training in approved programs and passed certification examinations in their specialty. Ongoing continuing education and keeping up with the latest medical techniques are also requirements.
